Dear Knight,

Imagine being told you may have an abnormality in your breast, and you need a mammogram to determine if it could be serious.

Now imagine being told you have to wait months for that mammogram.

This is the reality being faced right now by thousands of women receiving care at St. Michael’s Hospital’s CIBC Breast Centre.

With the highest screening volumes in downtown Toronto, enormous demand for mammograms in the wake of the pandemic and aging equipment that just can’t keep up, we are experiencing a critical backlog.

Luckily, there is an amazingly simple solution. We need a new mammography machine—one that is efficient and reliable and offers the latest technology for faster and more accurate diagnoses.

That’s why I’m writing to you today: to ask for your support to help us acquire this vital piece of equipment.

Your donation will have double the impact thanks to generous donors, who have offered to match all donations made in support of this campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

If you take any action this month to make a difference, let it be this one. Your gift will allow us to dramatically reduce wait times and ensure more women can access the care—and hope—they need sooner.

On behalf of the entire team here at St. Michael’s Hospital, thank you.

With gratitude,

Dr. Adena Scheer

Surgical Oncologist

P.S. Please make sure to donate this month to take advantage of this incredible matching opportunity. Every dollar of your gift will be doubled—but only if you donate in October!
